The story of Lot and his daughters always irritated me. He offers to release them into a guaranteed gang-rape situation in Sodom, his wife turns back and gets turned to salt for no compelling reason, which then provides a not-so-clever segue into how he impregnates his own daughters. If a wife were so desirable, why didn't he hit up Abraham and have him import one from Mesopotamia like he did for Isaac? Looks like a cover-up for a filthy and disgusting man. My guess is that the incest legend wouldn't die and the Genesis writer needed to find a way to explain it to the masses.

Tom Cruise awakening to Scientology, or will "special dispensation" keep him in?
by King Solomon inhttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/debate/article-2211469/is-tom-cruise-finally-seeing-light-scientology.html.
scientology's most famous adherent, tom cruise, is believed to be receiving special dispensation to see his daughter, suri, six, after ex-wife katie holmes withdrew herself and their daughter from the membership.
normally members are forbidden from contacting ex-partners who leave the 60-year-old cult.

It all depends on how quickly they can hook him up with a hot wife who wants to have his robots - er kids. They aimed too high with Katie Holmes and Nicole Kidman. This time it needs to be someone who's already a convert, while being young, attractive, and yet with much less ambition.

Hearing of his pain reminds me of this song:

If you hurt that badly, then it's a bittersweet reality now that your pain has finally been extinguished. RIP

I Want Proof Jesus Even Existed
by Farkel indon't bother me with the josephus addendum.
i've already seen that debunked.. i am quite aware of the fact that the only evidence of jesus comes from his own followers who didn't even bother to write down his life for decades after jesus "died.
" don't know about you, but if i saw all that shit, i would have gone home and written three books about it that same day!.

Paul was the impetus behind the entire gentile strategy by going limp (no pun intended) on circumcision and the complexities of the Mosaic law. He gave them a gateway into the wider non-Jewish world, but they were already spreading like wildfire throughout the diaspora.

Any movement of such significance requires an undisputed leader and founder at one point or another. To assume that there must have been a Jesus (or more accurately, Yeshua) around the time of 1 to 33 AD is no huge leap of faith. Whoever he was, he was a self-styled teacher who advocated reform in Judaism, centred around himself and his teachings. Since he did not have Levite blood nor did he descend from the Aaronic priesthood, this presented an obstacle to his legitimacy. His only way around that within Jewish law was to claim he was the long promised messiah. For my part, I doubt he was born in Bethlehem, and the convoluted reasoning employed by his followers later to explain how a Gallilean couple already in the final stages of pregnancy being present there for some sort of census in the dead of winter 775 metres above sea level raises a few red flags. I see a man who saw himself first as a teacher, then a revolutionary within his birth religion, before finally manufacturing a messiah claim in order to gain momentum in the Jewish diaspora. Otherwise they would have remained an obscure Galillean sect.

I heard that his family was traditional and didn't quite know how to deal with his homosexuality. He did receive a Zoroastrian funeral.

Mother and daughter are doing fine, but she's keeping me up as expected.
This Christmas I am flying into DC to see my father and my two siblings I have never met. It wont be my first Christmas as I had from time to time attended dinner and other festivities with friends. But this time is the first with any part of my blood family. It ought to be interesting.
Might as well enjoy it for now, as it is back to work in another month for me.

Famous last words.
This is what my mum told me when papa moved out. When it did finally happen months later, it was because he had left Jehovah. I hated him for many years and refused to speak to him. He took to the bottle and remains estranged from most of his family to this day. I took the opportunity to call him when I congratulated him on being a new grandfather last week. I apologised to him for treating him this way. He cried and expressed his sorrow at how everything transpired, but harboured no regrets for leaving the Witnesses. Though it wasn't articulated as such, we both knew who played a huge role in demonising him within the family. My relationship with him remains strained; that fact I am under no illusions regarding such. But I felt that a new door has been opened.
For that I am grateful.

What's The Worst Thing About Being A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus infor me, i think it's that the witnesses teach they are god's spokesman.
they represent his "faithful & discreet slave"....and that they alone are expounders of the only truth and that if you disagree with anything they teach, you are considered worse than vomit.. it's unbelievable because these people are wrong so many times, it cannot be excused!.
as a witness, you must accept every viewpoint and if you (and your family) do not accept it all, hook, line and sinker, you are "apostates"!!!.

Coming from a Catholic country, I felt a profound difference. People who were Catholics hardly thought daily about the fact that they were Catholic. Being a Jehovah's Witness you couldn't escape it with the daily text, regular meetings and field service. Witnesses can never escape being Witnesses even for a short period of time without being counselled about missing meetings or being spiritually weak. This is not a religion which is too compatible with leisure. It consumes your life until there is nothing left.
